Pop Trash Inc. is a Netherlands-based alternative pop band that blends shimmering synths, driving guitars,
and cinematic storytelling into a distinctive sound that feels both nostalgic and unmistakably modern.
Formed in 2014, the band came together through a shared love of the iconic music, movies, and pop
culture of the 1980s and 1990s. What started as a creative experiment quickly evolved into something
more substantial. “We knew right away that there was a spark,” says the band. “The chemistry was there
from day one. Our goal was to take the energy and emotion of the classic records we grew up with and
translate them into something fresh for today's audience.”
Cinema and pop culture are deeply woven into the band 80’s DNA. Their songs and videos often draw
inspiration from cult films. Early releases such as “Vertigo City” paid tribute to the futuristic atmosphere of
Blade Runner, while “Can’t Go Back To Yesterday” referenced the timeless wisdom of Alice in
Wonderland. The video for “SITA” offered a playful reimagining of the cult classic “Weird Science”. “Footprint
In The Snow”, the band’s own original James Bond-inspired theme song, is showcasing their flair for
drama, melody.
Musically, Pop Trash Inc. occupies a space where alternative pop, new wave, synth-pop, and rock
converge. Combining contemporary production with vintage influences, the band delivers catchy hooks,
atmospheric soundscapes, and an unmistakable cinematic flair. Their influences range from Duran Duran,
Depeche Mode, Garbage and The Beatles to Daft Punk.
Following the release of their debut EP Pop Trash Inc. 1.0 in 2019 and the full-length album Pop Trash Inc.
2.0 in 2022, the band continues to evolve creatively. Their latest single, “Mi Corazón”, is the first release
from the upcoming album The Pleasure Groove. An infectious disco-pop anthem driven by sparkling
synths, a dancefloor groove, and unmistakable Nile Rodgers-style guitar work, the track marks an exciting
new direction while staying true to the band’s signature mix of nostalgia and modernity.
Now, Pop Trash Inc. is preparing for the next chapter with their highly anticipated upcoming album ‘The
Pleasure Groove’.
